These dial bore gages are some of the most popular bore gages used in machine shops today. All the different styles of dial bore gages are offered in both inch and metric readings in a variety of graduations (.0005”/.0001” or .01mm/.001mm) or can be outfitted with an electronic indicator specifically made for bore gages. Mitutoyo offers the following types of dial bore gages: Standard Type, Small Hole Type, Short-Leg Type, Micrometer Head Style, Blind Hole Type, and one for extra small holes.
Extensions are readily available that are compatible with the Mitutoyo dial bore gages that allow users to be able to measure deeper into the bore. Setting rings are not included and must be purchased in addition to the bore gage itself. The Mitutoyo 2-point dial bore gages are great for checking ovality. A user can measure the bore, rotate the dial bore gage 90 degrees and measure the bore again. If the readings are the same then we know the bore is round but if the readings do not match, then we know the bore has some ovality to it.
