Accuracy guaranteed

Asimeto tools are crafted to meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

How can you know for sure? Every Asimeto product is ISO17025 certified, guaranteeing dependable accuracy and compliance with the standards of each local market.

What is ISO certification?

A product that is ISO certified has not only been tested against the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s standard reference materials (SRMs), but also meets the following requirements:

  • The calibration has been performed by a qualified technician using an acceptable measure of calibration
  • The technician is monitored by an effective Quality Management System
  • The calibration was performed by equipment that has been calibrated through an unbroken chain to the SRMs
  • The measurement is made with a gauge block or another standard reference artifact, and is performed in an ISO 17025-accredited calibration laboratory

The ISO 17025 laboratories where calibrations take place must adhere to strict standards. These labs are periodically audited to make sure that all requirements are being met.

How is ISO better than NIST?

A product that is NIST-certified has been tested against the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s SRMs, using a standard reference artifact, such as a gauge block, that meets the organization’s specifications. While this process ensures that measurement is traceable to a primary national standard, it doesn’t speak to the conditions in which the measurement was made.

The following conditions are required for a product to achieve ISO certification, but aren’t required by NIST:

  • The measurement is made in a controlled environment, with specific temperature and humidity levels
  • The product and standard reference artifact are allowed to equilibrate in the measurement environment to ensure stability
  • The procedure is demonstrated to be repeatable in a repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) study
  • The technician performing the measurement is trained to operate the equipment
  • The technician is tested periodically for proficiency
  • You can contact the company that supplied the traceable certificate for a more detailed report

All tools are ISO certified, meaning they’ve met exceptional standards of quality and accuracy, and guarantee compliance with the standards of each local market. This goes several steps beyond NIST certification.

How does ISO certification guarantee accuracy?

ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization. ISO certification means that a product has been tested against NIST’s standard reference materials (SRMs) and has been certified by a third party to meet strict calibration standards in an ISO 17025 laboratory.

Tools must be calibrated by a qualified technician using an acceptable measure of calibration. And that technician must be monitored by an effective Quality Management System.

Calibrations must be performed with equipment that has been calibrated through an unbroken chain to the SRMs. And the measurement must be performed in an ISO 17025-accredited calibration laboratory, with the use of a gauge block or another standard reference artifact.

GLOSSARY TERMS

ISO 17025 certification

ISO 17025 is an accreditation that ensures accurate calibration performed in a laboratory has been certified by the International Organization for Standardization. These labs must meet the highest standards to be considered technically competent. The measurements performed in them must also meet strict standards for competence and valid results.

NIST

NIST, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, is one of the oldest physical science laboratories in the country. It’s also part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. A precision tool with NIST certification has been tested against NIST’s standard reference materials (SRM), which means the measurement is traceable to a primary national standard

SRM

SRM refers to NIST’s Standard Reference Materials, a registered trademark of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. SRM indicates that a reference material used for measurement has been certified to meet NIST’s specific criteria.
