Bore gages come in different varieties including Vernier, electronic, digital, and dial. No matter the type of bore gage used, bore gage calibrationis equally important. The bore gage measures the inside diameter of a hole. Calibration ensures that the measurement readout is precise and accurate based
on a zero-point setting. Bore gage calibration must be done using a setting master to which the bore gage is compared and matched. A setting master can
be setting rings, a micrometer, a specific setting master tool, or a master kit. Most importantly, bore gage calibration must take place before the first
use. Back to entire glossary
