Caliper
A caliper is a precision measurement tool used to measure distance between two parts of an object in four distinct ways. Calipers are utilized to complete outside measurements, inside measurements, depth measurements, and step measurements. The three main types of modern-day calipers are Vernier, digital, and dial calipers. Each of these is a highly precise measurement tool. Measurement accuracy when using a caliper requires skill on the part of the operator. Proper placement of the caliper in relation to the object that is being measured is crucial, and any slight variation can impact the precision of the final measurement. Keeping a caliper thoroughly cleaned before and after each measurement will also ensure accuracy.
