A dial test indicator is a precision measurement tool used in a variety of professional fields including manufacturing. The basic premise of a dial test indicator is that it amplifies small angles or distances on the dial face in order for them to be more accurately measured. Used most often to detect and measure runout and surface distortion on a part, dial test indicators are ideal for finding imperfections along a cylindrical surface.
