A divider caliber, sometimes referred to as a compass, is a type of caliper used to mark out specific locations on a part. The tips of each jaw are sharp such that they can scribe on a part easily. Alternatively, one jaw may be stuck into a particular area such that the other jaw has a full circumference in which to move and make marks. Divider calipers are frequently used when measuring between two points on a map or on a set of blueprints, and are most often used in the medical field. Back to entire glossary
