Gage Calibration
Gage calibration is an important process to ensure precise measurement in the field of metrology, in a variety of applications. Gage calibration assesses the deviation a gage has from the true value of a measurement, then adjusts the gage such that it lines up with the true value. Starting with ideal conditions, a gage is used to measure a standardized object of which the true value is known. Then, if the gage readout is not in line with the accurate value of the object, it is adjusted such that the readout is correct (zero must line up with zero). Gage calibration can be conducted by the gage owner, or can be outsourced to a commercial calibration service.
