Scriber
The scriber on a height gage is the indispensable little part that marks a part at a particular height or rests on top of a part to determine its precise height. The scriber works by cutting a small sharp mark into the part being measured, thus denoting the exact height point you are looking for. Height gage scribes can also come with a carbide tip. This allows for the scribe to create a mark on a part without actually creating a cut.
