The Borematic bore gages have a built-in lever into the readout which is how users open and close the anvils on the measuring head. A user can squeeze the trigger on the readout and the anvils retract inside the measuring head. The operator then inserts the measuring head into the bore and slowly lets out the handle until the measuring anvils are touching the bore. Once the anvils are in contact with the walls of the bore the operator can read the diameter displayed on the readout.
