Laser scan micrometer
A laser scan micrometer is a newer model of the micrometer which uses a laser beam in order to conduct measurements. An object or part is placed between the origin of the laser beam and a receiving end on the micrometer. Then, as a rotating beam passes the object or part, a certain amount is or is not obstructed on its path to the receiving end. Built-in technology then uses the resulting shadow and timing of the shadow to determine the size and edges of the part. The laser scan micrometer is a highly accurate and technology-based method of measurement, great for taking precise measurements of fragile parts even at high temperatures, or parts in motion.
